Hello Rich Ran, Thank you for posting. There could be that your battery is getting old and it might not be showing up in your BIOS. Before checking that let’s check some settings in Device manager. Check in device manage under ACPI setting. It will be the first line or second line open it and see what the settings are.
The battery can be enable or disable from there. If you still have the problem then move to check the BIOS to see if it shows up there.
You don’t have to change anything just see if the battery shows up. You laptop manufacturer can provide the steps to do this. Most notebook batteries are rated to last 400 cycles, which is usually one year of 'normal' use. While I have seen them last longer than this it doesn't happen often.
The exact amount of time you get out of the battery will depend on environment and usage. If the battery is not being detected in the BIOS then the problem is either with the battery itself or the battery bay/motherboard on the system. If you have access to another battery I would recommend trying the other battery in your computer and your battery in the other computer. Doing this will allow you to test whether your computer can see any battery, or just fails to see yours. If the problem is the bay/motherboard then I recommend you contact your laptop manufacturer.

Hi all, I have a HP DV 3505xx notebook that originally shipped with Vista. Last week I upgraded to Windows 7. I notice now that the battery doesn't appear to be charging and the message over the battery icon on the task bar is 'No battery is detected'. I have tried the HP recommended remedies that include: A hard reset Reset BIOS to default settings Update BIOS I have also tried uninstalling/reinstalling the Microsoft ACPI Compliant Control Method Battery. What I wonder is whether I could uninstall the Windows 7 ACPI driver and replace it with Vista driver? My only problem is that I can't find a HP specific ACPI Vista driver for download. Any suggestions?
I bought a new ProBook 4530s less than 2 weeks ago. It is running Windows 7 64 bit. I was using it today on battery power when it shut down unexpectedly. Apparently the battery was low. I was listening to music and did not hear any low battery warning. Certainly, there was no popup message.
I plugged in the charger and restarted the computer. Now I see an icon on the bottom right of the screen that apparently means No Battery is Detected. The yellow light on the left side of the laptop next to the power cord is flashing. I did some research online and tried removing and replacing the battery several times. Originally, I was unable to start the computer from the battery at all.
Now I find that I have enough power that I can start from the battery, so it must be getting some power in spite of the icon. I have now restarted several times, plugged in and on battery. I always get the No Battery message and the flashing yellow light. I have looked at Device Manager, and it says that the battery is fine. Please help!!
I tried this on the HP Probook 4730s which has been showing 'No battery is detected' in the taskbar power icon. This fix does not work. I have also tried several other versions of this fix and none of them work.
I am quite surprised that HP would have it's name on a forum like this and leave it to amateurs to offer advice. Simply because someone calls themself an 'HP Expert' does not mean anything. I registered a few minutes ago for this forum and I could have chosen as a screen name 'HP Global Technician' and no-one would have objected. Sorry to hear nothing here has helped resolve your problem. Though machines are basically the same-you may get more help posting in the Probook specific section of the Business support forum rather than Consumer class forum.
Btw-HP provides this forum as a peer to peer support group-not an official venue to interact with HP Support.Much like Dell,Toshiba, etc host user forums. I did not choose HP Expert as my screen name-which is CherylG. The HP Expert program is sponsored by HP for top contributors.

(My laptop is a Dell Inspiron E1505 w/ Windows Vista Ultimate)Vista states that no battery was detected, yet i have one inserted. I've tried pulling it out and putting it back in, even the BIOS settings detect no battery. When I remove the power cable, it still runs off battery, but the battery light turns red. Also, I am trying to upgrade my BIOS and as a requirementyou must have your computer connected to the battery AND to the charger. Please help! Download sikh religious ringtones. If you have access to another E1505 I would recommend trying the other battery in your computer and your battery in the other computer. Doing this will allow you to test whether your computer can see any battery, or just fails to see yours. If the problem is the bay/motherboard then I recommend you contact Dell technical support (assuming the system is still in warranty, which they can check) to see about getting it fixed.
If the problem is the battery, and it is outside the one year battery warranty, then you would need to purchase a replacement. Larry Dell Customer Advocate Upsidedown Wrote.
